In reply to Angelique and a comment to the article by Zaglas, research intention is now so driven by dollars that the ethical costs are rapidly overlooked. It is surprising to see the article below talking of ‘newly’ installed facial recognition technology for the benefit of staff and students.

Increasingly, academic researchers are facing conflicts of interests and losing independence in their research in the name of meeting their funding KPIs by being forced to go to the private market and the international market.
