UQ appoints four researchers to economics school

The University of Queensland’s school of economics has appointed four new academics following a global search. They will commence semester two. They are: Dr Myra Yazbeck, Dr Ian MacKenzie, Satoshi Tanaka and Keiichi Kawai. Yazbeck is currently a postdoctoral fellow at McGill University in Canada. With a PhD in economics from Laval University, her research interests lie in health and public economics. MacKenzie holds a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Centre for Economic Research, Zurich. His research interests include environmental economics, microeconomics, public economics, law and economics, and political economy. His most recent work was published in the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management and Oxford Economic Papers. Tanaka is completing his PhD at the University of Minnesota in mid-2012. His research interests include macroeconomics, family economics, labour economics, occupational search theory, and quantitative method. Also relocating from the US is Kawai who is completing his PhD at Northwestern University, also in mid-2012. Kawai’s research interest lies in economic theory, and his research has been published in Games and Economic Behaviours, Japanese Economic Review, and Economics Letters.
