Deakin appoints new Pro Vice-Chancellor

Deakin University has appointed Professor Trevor Day as pro vice-chancellor to lead its Faculty of Science and Technology.  He will be based at the university’s Geelong Waurn Ponds campus.  Day moved to Deakin from the University of Newcastle where he was head of the School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy. He completed a PhD in neurobiology at Flinders University in 1981 and did his postdoctoral training in Canada. He has worked at the University of Otago and the University of Queensland, and held a visiting scientist post at the Max Planck Institute for Psychiatry in Munich (1998). Day’s career has involved a balance of activities in research and teaching.  Most of his research has concerned the characterisation of brain pathways that underpin adaptive responses to physical and psychological stress.
