Urban expert new Curtin properties director

Award-winning urban strategist Andy Sharp has been appointed director properties, facilities and development at Curtin University, succeeding former executive director of properties Steve Harvey. Sharp was elected to serve as a member of the Curtin Council. His previous title was director of campus development, where he led the Curtin Master Plan and Place Activation projects, which sets out changes required for the university to become globally recognised. “Through the development of the Bentley Campus into a major ‘university city’, Curtin is hoping to not only enrich the campus experience for students and staff, but also develop a world-class environment for researchers and increase the knowledge base of the state,” Sharp said. Previously, he was managing partner and international head of landscape architecture for Hassell architects. Sharp has won the WA Business News 40 Under 40 award for his leadership in the architecture, engineering and construction sectors and he also serves on the Guildford Grammar Schools board, the City of Perth Design Advisory Committee and the City of Joondalup Design Reference Panel.
