Roff kicks off new role
Former Wallabies winger Joe Roff has begun his new role as chief executive of the University of Canberra Union (UCU). The position was created as a result of UCU’s new strategic plan and direction to invest in campus life at the University of Canberra. The former Brumbies player said he was excited by the direction of the union and the opportunity to lead the organisation. “My aim is to create a vibrant campus experience for staff, students and the wider community. The University of Canberra is ideally located to offer many cultural, sporting and community events.” Before joining the UCU, Roff was director of workforce development at Lifeline Australia, and a consultant with the Nous Group. He spent 10 years playing professional rugby in Australia, France and Japan before retiring at the age of 29. He has a Bachelor of Applied Finance from the University of Southern Queensland and a Master of Arts in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford. He was also involved in the Oxford Union, including the chess club, rowing and college activities.
