We have policies that provide demand driven funding to support tertiary education. Yet we still follow use a statistic that ranks a student in a population pool to determine that only the top proportion of that pool will get into tertiary institutions. It is the institutions that perpetuate the ATAR input quality myth. There are measures of output quality- its called employment. Bravo for this brave article.

There isn’t even inter institutional moderation of universities’ assessment.
